Google Analytics Tracking Code for Joomla

Google Analytics Tracking Module is an installable Joomla! plugin that adds support for Google Analytics Tracking Code into your Joomla! site.

It is based on the latest version of Google's tracking code. Comes in FREE and PRO versions. PRO version adds support for e-commerce transaction tracking when using VirtueMart component and AdWords conversion tracking on VirtueMart purchases.

Tracking CODE Installation

Install this plugin using the default Joomla installer (menu Tools / Install). If you already have previous version of the GA Tracking plugin installed, you should not need to uninstall it, the new code will upgrade the existing one.

Configuring the GA Tracking Plugin

Insert your Google Analytics tracking code in plugin configuration (in Plugin Manager, filter the System plugins, locate the installed "ARTIO Google Analytics Tracking Plugin" and click it). If you want to track VirtueMart orders, switch the VirtueMart tracking parameter to Yes. (PRO version only)

Optinally, you can put an alternative code for tracking in the field UA Tracking Script. (by default the single domain site tracking code is present)

If you also want to track AdWords conversion for completed VirtueMart purchases, switch Conversion Tracking (VM Purchase) option to Yes and in the field Google Adwords Conversion Code insert the tracking code generated by AdWords. When generating the code, use "%s" string as value. (PRO version only)

Final Check

Finally, using the Joomla's Plugin Manager, make sure the plugin is enabled. After this, you are ready to go.

Compatibility

This plugin is an self-installable file compatible with Joomla 1.5.x in native mode. The e-commerce tracking was tested on VirtueMart 1.1.x.

This plugin is not compatible with Joomla 1.0.x.

There are no SSL (http vs. https) problems as this uses the latest tracking code from google (ga.js) that is compatible both with SSL / no-SSL version of the site.
