For some reason all my products are listed correctly and all in 1 category

i.e.
www.domain\category x\category y\Products a-d
www.domain\category s\category t\Products e-g
www.domain\category b\category c\Products h-z etc...

But I am also getting all products in 1 category

www.domain\category s\Products a-z
If anyone can please tell me how to stop all the products listing in 1 category I would be most grateful.

I am running
JoomSEF 3.8.2
VirtueMart Extension 2.0.35
Joomla 1.5.23
VirtueMart 1.1.9

I think we haven't encountered such problem before. Does this happen only with JoomSEF enabled? If you go to JoomSEF's URLs Manager, what is the Real URL for www.domain\category s\Products a-z ?

real URl is

The correct product SEF URL is -
adhesives-tapes/adhesives/all-purpose/uhu-extra-all-purpose-gel-glue-for-vertical-surfaces-and-crafts-in-tube-20ml-ref-40253

and the real url is

index.php?option=com_virtuemart&category_id=2719&flypage=flypage.tpl&manufacturer_id=43&page=shop.product_details&product_id=21484&Itemid=1510

I probably don't understand your problem. Do all the products display in one category on your page instead of their correct categories? Or you have some products in multiple categories, but SEF URLs are created only with one of the categories?

99.9% of my products are in 1 catagory only with around 20,000+ products. I have around 30 different top level catagories.

JoomSEF is auto-creating URL's to the wrong top level catagory so I am having to delete all the wrong urls so that it can re-create the correct URL's

Open Manage Extensions page in JoomSEF and there click on VirtueMart extension to open its parameters. There on the Common tab try setting "Ignore multiple sources" to "No".
If that doesn't help, try disabling SEF for VirtueMart and check if the category_id is correct in URLs. If it is, try enabling URL Source Tracking in JoomSEF's advanced configuration, then you can see in URLs Manager where are the wrong URLs coming from.
