I never said the site was slow. It works fine, then all of a sudden... \"too many pages\". If I kill SEF, the problem goes away. It is not too many content items, but too many SEF entries. If you delete a chunk of SEF entries, the error goes away. So you're trying to say that is because of a server setting?? This site does share a server with about 70 other sites, but most of the others pull very little traffic. The \"issue site\" is getting about 4000 visits / 150000 hits per day. It has it's own static IP address. There are about 24K content items in Joomla with probably 50 added each day. I know the server has 4GB of memory and dual processors. I know it's not a hardware issue. Is there a particular server setting, php setting, etc that you can think of that MAY need adjusted? If so, please give details.

Obviously, I'm not the only one that has experienced this problem, so let's help each other solve it. Thanks.

I already set many components to skip... items that no sef urls are needed for. So, step #1 is already done. Regarding step #2, the only components generating any serious number of sef urls is Content and AkoComment... both with JoomSEF support. I have now set AkoComment to skip so no sef urls are made for it. We'll see how that helps.

However, we still have no answer to WHAT IS THE ACTUAL LIMIT? This would be very helpful to know. The vast majority of my sef urls are coming from valid content items, section/category pages, etc. I'm obviously close to the limit and even if I buy myself some time by removing the comments component from SEF, I'll still eventually hit that limit again. Please answer that question so I (and anyone else) can know if we need to be finding another solution as our sites grow. Thanks.

This is NOT a real solution... if your site actually is so static that you never need to create new SEF urls again, then you wouldn't be having this problem to begin with.

Our site is very dynamic and changing constantly. Currently, there are about 25K content items and with everything else going on in the site, after purging the SEF urls, it gets back to 44-45K SEF urls pretty quick. The largest external data feed to the site already is set to be skipped by Artio cause it makes crappy urls for it.

So, I need a real solution to this problem. What is the actual limit? This question was not answered. Is Artio just meant for smaller websites? Do I need to just find another SEF solution?

I am now having this problem with one site. It is Joomla 1.0.13 and was using Artio 2.2.2. I just upgraded it to 2.2.3 but the problem remained. So, I purged all SEF urls (except custom urls) and the site worked again. There were over 45000 SEF url listings in Artio. The site has lots of content and lots of traffic. After removing all the entries, it is now already back up to over 44000. I am worried about this \"too many pages\" error happening again.

How can I avoid this? What is the actual page count limit?

I have enabled 2.2.2 on a site and although the SEF urls seem to be created fine, all links take me to the same page. The correct URL shows, but the NOT the correct page. Please help.

What is the suggested sitemap solution to use with JoomSEF? I need a google sitemap plus a regular site version. Please give some direction as to what will work with this. Thanks.

using 1.5.1, I am now getting the SEF title duplicated in the same meta tag like this:

<meta name=\"title\" content=\"My SEF Title, My SEF Title\" />

The same title twice, separated by a comma. What is the fix for this?

I'm with you. When using the JRE SEF Patch in combination with Artio, the custom titles and keywords are working for me, but I can't get custom descriptions to save my life. Been trying to get help, but no solution yet.

Okay, I found that the joomsef_metabot.php and joomsef_metabot.xml files were NOT in the /mambots/system folder. They are now and the meta info is working mostly. I get the title and keywords specified in JoomSEF. BUT, I'm not getting the description tag. The pages still show the default site description tag. How can I get that?

The mambot is installed and published. However, when I open it, this error displays at the top of the screen:

Hello. I have been using JoomSEF for a while and really like it. On a particular site, any custom titles or meta info I put into the JoomSEF link does not display. Only the info specified in the content item area is used. The site also uses the JRE SEF Patch Extended and is on Joomla 1.0.12. I just upgraded JoomSEF from 1.3.1 to 1.5.0 and didn't get any different results.

I'd like to use the JoomSEF abilities to name the titles/meta tags as many of the site's menu items are not regular content pages and thus do not have the ability to specify that information at that level.

yes I did the global.php change, the htaccess modifications and everything else you can find in that forum. It all helped a LITTLE, but still my forum is poking.

I'm about to try the Joomlahacks SMF bridge and see if I get any better results.

I actually have seen that and was part of that discussion :)

You can find me in the SMF forum in a couple threads discussing this issue, but the results always end up stating that their bridge is not compatible with any 3rd party SEF programs. Today, it even said "regardless of what the Artio people say".

However, I've done all of the suggested things told to me in the SMF forum regarding speed, but still no luck.

I have it on a few sites, but the main one is at www.thespread.com.

The slowness is not a server issue as the forum moves fine when accessed directly (outside of Joomla). We've GOT to get this slowness issue resolved though.

What else does the extension do besides fix that double link issue? I already got a fix for that.
