No, I hear what you are saying and I know VM is a pile when it comes to Joomla add-on's but unfortunately, it's what we are stuck with. I think JOOMSEF is a great product, don't get me wrong. I'm just frustrated with trying to make all this work together. Once we have a better alternative to VM, who knows, I will probably be back looking at JoomSEF again.

All the best,

Craig

Regarding your google links concern. I started on sh404sef. I had over 6000 google links to my site. Google loved me, but sh404sef decided to start charging so I started looking around and found joomsef. While Artio also cost money, it seemed like a better product so I switched.

I now have about 122 links to my site on Google. The move away from sh404sef KILLED my Google presence. I came humbly crawling back and paid them the $35 - after I had probably spent three times that with joomsef.

I don't know if I can ever get back to 6000+ links but I know what got me there the first time and I'm giving it another shot.

Best of luck!

I posted that concern four days ago and just heard back today that I will have to pay to get this fixed. Three days I ago, after I had heard nothing and my production site was suffering and I was potentially losing money, I went and bought sh404sef for $35 (no nickel and dime for other plugins and support hours). After a few hours of tweaking it is doing everything I needed it to. I think joomsef is slightly faster and I like the design better but a 4 day turn on a production issue and then being told I have to pay money to fix a bug is very frustrating.
I should not have had to pay you guys to sef child products on the vm plug-in.

I am spending my time telling you this so that you can re-think your timeliness and approach to helping customers with their production issues.

Good luck and best wishes,

Craig

Hello,

Well the select box redirects directly to the nonSEF URL using JavaScript, so the only option is to enable the "Redirect nonSEF URLs to SEF" in JoomSEF's Advanced configuration.

Best regards,
ARTIO Support Team

Sorry this forum is throwing me off and I'm replying in the wrong place. I tried the above and it didn't fix the problem. Any other thoughts?

That didn't work. I am still getting non-sef urls. Any other ideas?

Thanks David. What are the drawbacks of enabling "Redirect nonSEF URLs to SEF?" I'm assuming there are some since it's not enabled by default. I seem to recall there was something but can't remember specifically what problems I've had with this enabled.

Thanks,

Virtuemart allows you to have a parent and children products so that you can enter a product once and then have children that have all the same values except flavor or size for example.

If you visit www.musclespoon.com/protein/whey-isolate...-the-isolate-gainer] www.musclespoon.com/protein/whey-isolate...t-the-isolate-gainer you will see a parent product with child products (flavors) in the drop down. JOOMSEF is not SEFing the child URLS. To see this, select a flavor from the dropdown from the link above and let it load.

I was up until 4:30AM Playing with this. I uninstalled joomsef and re-installed SH404SEF. sh404sef SEF'd the urls correclty, but what a wake up call - sh404sef was so much slower. - ouch....

I'm assuming there is either a work-around or the virtuemart plugin needs some tweaking.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Craig

you will see the problem straight away. This url is SEF - great. Select another flavor from the dropdown - goodbye sef.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

NOTE I am in the middle of playing with it now so the link above may be broken. I will re-post this once I have it stable.

I had 6000+ links on google when i had sh404sef. I switched to JoomSEF and I now have 110 links on Google. The "Not Founds" and redirects are killing me. I don't know why one SEF URL is redirecting to another SEF URL. I don't know why an SEF URL is redirecting to a non-SEF directory. I don't know why I have all these 'bad' links being crawled now on my site.

I imagine it may be problems with how I've configured it but here's what I know:

Google hates redirects.
Google webmaster reports 4900 bad links on the site. I don't know where they are even finding these links on my site. (Sample below)

My site is dying. I spent a year building up the presence on Google and now it's gone. I keep trying to fix it but it's just not getting better.

I've run the w3c link checker and it reports a ton of redirects like:
warning Line: 1456 www.musclespoon.com/hormone-related/ster...elated/cycle-support redirected to www.musclespoon.com/index.php?page=shop....emart&Itemid=776
Status: 301 -> 200 OK

This is a permanent redirect. The link should be updated.
warning Line: 735 www.musclespoon.com/protein/whey-other redirected to www.musclespoon.com/index.php?page=shop....emart&Itemid=741
Status: 301 -> 200 OK

This is a permanent redirect. The link should be updated.

I don't want any redirects because Google hates them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Craig

Excellent catch! You are right. I just tried it with a non-admin account and it worked but not due to the index vs index2.php page. It seems to have something to do with the other arguments like pshop_mode=admin.

Anyways, I won't worry too much about it since I am the only one who will have problems as the admin.

I will apply any changes you make and help you test any solutions.

Thanks,

Craig

I have the same thing happening with me. On the order receipt there is a link at the bottom for customers to view and print their orders. This is the link: /index2.php?page=order.order_print&order_id=20012590&pshop_mode=admin&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=93.

Fatal error: Call to a member function toString() on a non-object in /home1/chilibea/public_html/libraries/joomla/methods.php on line 55

With JOOMSEF turned off, the link successfully goes to a login page so that the user can check their order status.
