TOPIC: 1.4 Upgrade Issues

1.4 Upgrade Issues 17 years, 2 months ago #1663

I have not found this in the forum yet, so here goes. It seems that there are some issues with the 1.4 version of the SEF. I tried both the upgrade from server and local file and it did not work.

Had to uninstall the 1.3.3 version and install the 1.4 as a clean install, which brings me to my next issue. After to install, a lot of my pages would start to come up as "Not Authorized to View" when they are public pages. Therefore it would not allow my visitors to see my site. I don't know whats up, but I had to revert back to 1.3.3 to get my site working again. Would love to see a working upgrade and runs like it should.

One other issue. Still get a too many pages error at times, need the ability to restrict better the cataloging of links to help prevent this.

I'm running 1.3.3 and the automatic "upgrade from ARTIO server" link in the admin control panel does not work. It simply produces a blank web page. I was going to download 1.4 from here and upgrade manually, but after reading this post I'm going to wait for an official response.

Hello,

we apologize to all users still running PHP4.

There is a bug causing that the online upgare is not available on PHP4 powered servers in JoomSEF versions prior to 1.4.2. In PHP5 that works fine.

Since 1.4.2, this has been fixed and should work correctly both in PHP4 and PHP5.

Regards,
ARTIO Support Team

I also had this problem - just checked and I'm running PHP4.

Last time I had to upgrade from ver 1.3.3 to 1.4 and had to manualy re-enter all my SEF URLS again.

I don't want to have to do this again and I can't seem to find a backup utility, so it looks like I'm going to have to stick with 1.4 or manually upgrade to 1.5 - sob.

Got this sorted in the end - I read the manual :-)

Found how to backup my urls to custom and now I have 1.5 running - sweet.
