I just ran into this problem where it won't let you have duplicate URLs... this is really unfortunate. Other than this problem, I love this component, but because I need to have different URLs redirect to the same page, I can't use it... oh well. :(

I just installed 1.2.5 and still have duplicate URLs when using Phil Taylor's tags component. Note that Phil's component doesn't generate itemids, which I think causes the problem.

The OpenSEF component doesn't have this problem, so that is possible to resolve this problem in ARTIO JoomSEF.

Well, probably the component mentioned (Phil Taylor's tags) will need some adjustment - own extension code as there is e.g. for JoomlaBoard.

But please note, that there is so many components for Joomla and many of them need some SEF adjustments that we are not able to include support for all of them imidiatelly. At least not for free. If anyone would like to make a sponsorship for some component's SEF code, then we might give it higher priority. Otherwise we try to add these extension according to the usage frequence of the components. #1 on our list now is VirtueMart.
