I have scanned through posts from last 6 months and couldn't find precise answer for my problem...

I am running Joomla 1.5.23 / Joomsef 3.8.2 + JSN Epic template on my website... I am free to upgrade Joomla and template to 1.6.x versions of Joomla and template but don't want to start until I get instruction on how to migrate Joomsef and confirmation that I will have no issues while upgrading. I have spend lots of time tuning Joomsef and really don't want to go through everything again...

So, to cut the long story, what exactly should I do to smoothly upgrade to Joomsef 4, step-by-step?

(should I first upgrade Joomla and Joomsef after that or vice-versa; is Joomsef 4 working on Joomla 1.7?)

Unfortunately, JoomSEF cannot be upgraded from 3.x to 4.x, you need to make a fresh install of JoomSEF on Joomla 1.6. However, you can get JoomSEF 4.x for reduced price using the following link: www.artio.net/e-shop/joomsef/joomsef-4-upgrade

Joomla 1.6 uses some pretty different code from 1.5, so JoomSEF 4.x is also pretty different from 3.x (from the programmer's point of view) so there is a possibility that some features will work differently in newer versions. But you can always try the free version first before buying the paid one. You can also purchase our support time to have our assistance with the configuration setting.

JoomSEF 4 works also with Joomla 1.7.

Hi David,

could you please advise do I have to unistall 3.x before installing 4.x? What URL's will be shown after I upgrade to Joomla 1.6, default ones or the ones left over from Joomsef 3.x?
