Sorry, it was not the Category but the Menu Alias. I can't find a setting that removes Menu Alias, can anyone point me to it please.

We're testing ARTIO SEF to replace sh404SEF for all our projects and we're noticing the Category name is not disappearing in SEF URL even though Add Categories to URL was set to NO in Content Extension settings. Purged the URLs but the category is still there. We're testing JomSEF 4.4.1 (FREE Version) in Joomla 2.5

Any other trick? Or that feature is only availalbe in the paid version?
