Hi jitr,

I wrote a spec with features I need.
I can't attach any file here.
How can I send you the message / file?

Hello, if you need additonal functionality we can offer you a paid customisation.

Hi there,
depending on the price I would appreciate that and I'm sure a lot of your customer too.
I'll write a specification of things we need. Inbetween you may think about asking other customer if they need that too, so that we may share (donate) the costs you come up with.

I forgot to mention:
the Docman import feature of JoonDoc is also essential for customer who want to move from Docman and have a bulk of files. Without the import feature I hadn't been thinking about JoomDoc...
But it's working not as expected. I tried to import the entiere Docman database and it didn't import subcategories but fist level cat's only. This hardly needs to be improved. JoomDoc should create subfolders for each Docman cat /subcat and import files / docs afterwards into JoomDoc structure.
As I said: without a propper import functionality my customer will never move from Docman no matter how unsatisfied they are with . Because it's just much too much work to import 2000-3000 files and docs manually.

Take care!

Jon

Hello, in document editing is "created" field. You should enable plugin Editors-xtd - JoomDOC. Editor plugin does not use tree structure and has no ordering by date. Date ordering is on the front-end only.

Thanx for quick reply.
Oh how sad. This is the knock out for JoomDOC...

Imagine: you write an article and you want to insert/attach four articles from different categories. Four articles from over 4000. You're searching/seeking to death.... You NEED a treemenu to find /select the category quick and then to order by date (mostly descending) to find recent articles quick eighter.
Further on: there is no date column in the backend view to maintain and organize documents. You need to know the name and filter. This is a step back compared with organizing articles in the Joomla default article view.

All in all
First I was happy to find a proper alternative to Docman. Especially that you can store and organize docs with subfolders, which Docman cannot.
Sadly JoomDOC doesn't fit our needs. Actually I don't understand, why JoomDoc cannot offer such basic functionality. Especially because JoomDoc called itself a DMS ...

Hi Joomdoc,

currently my customer use docman and they are really unsatisfied with it.
But there are not many alternatives for Joomla arround.
Today I found your JoomDoc which seems to be really promising.
Especially your migration tool for docman.
The biggest Joomla 2.5 installation I have stores and manages over 6000 files and documents.
Also over 4000 articles.
So it is impossible to manage that huge amount of data without ordering by date and time. Also if they attach several documents on articles using the editor plugin.
Sadly I couldn't find any date/time fields. Not in the backend nor editor plugin.
Is there a chance to get these fields?

Also: the editor plugin needs to have a tree menu to navigate throught the folder/category structure and the I need to order documents by date in the plugin window and backend. Otherwise they get mad by seeking one file of so many.

Thanx!
Jon

PS: I've installed JoomDoc 4.02 free version on Joomla 2.5.22
