Thank you, David. I had already searched my sef urls, custom urls and 301s for any reference to component/content with no results. I check again with nothing - really I looked and looked because I did understand this was redirecting. I just went to add a new sef url for component/content, leaving the new sef blank as you suggested. Unfortunately, I don't know the original (non-sef url). So, instead, I set up a 301 redirect from component/content to index.php (it wouldn't allow me to leave it blank).

So, I'm now preventing the errors which is great but I am not sure I am actually redirecting this link to the right place.

A few days ago I began seeing error appear in Google Webmaster (DNS error - I thought it was a 500) for my site. I have been trying to figure out the problem and am stuck. (I'm not really sure of what I must have changed because all was well until now.)

I also noticed in my 404 error log a link for component/content/article plus component/content/cateogry appearing. I've been able to at least have anyone who hits these last two to be forwarded to my home page but I'm seeing repeated hits to component/content.

In google chrome the following message appears: Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

In firefox this is the message: The page isn't redirecting properly. Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

I'm not completely clear on the component/content direction. I get it's looking for the content component but....

I'm working with Joomla 1.72. You can see the error here: homeschoolguidancecounselor.com/component/content.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions. I've spent the last two days trying to figure this out.

Just thought I'd let others know that I think I stopped throwing this error. I cleaned out my cache (both joomla and joomsef) and rebuilt by menus, rebuilt my categories, check in articles. I made a few changes in categories and this may have caused the problems. I looks fixed now.

Also, I don't mind having the errors pop up from joomsef - it lets me know I have a problem I need to fix. Without that php warning, I might not have realized I needed to clean-up my mess.

I am truly lost trying to figure out what to do with this error. I would very much appreciate some help. I'm using Joomla 1.72 and installled JoomSEF 4.1.1. I have 3 errors I don't know how to handle. My site is on Bluehost.

I was able to fix this problem by uninstalling MyContact - a joomla extension. I am using joomla 1.52. However, I did read somewhere that this may not actually be a problem with a conflict between the sef and mycontact but a problem in template. Someone was able to fix it by altering code. This didn't work for me.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific but I am a novice. I just uninstalled mycontact so this would run.

I am having the exact same problem. However, I did try to insert the code listed above into my .htacess but the problem still persists. Any ideas?

I'm a novice at this and appreciate any guidance. I just can't seem to get this SEF working.
