TOPIC: Linking Object Templates

Linking Object Templates 11 years, 9 months ago #31418

We would like to link the separate object templates to separate menus in the main menu bar, but when we choose object lists in the menu, doest come up with the template option.

Is there any direct link we can create as external menu to send the parameters of the template ID to show up only those which iwe want?

same way how the module search work when we choose the template it shows only the separate category of objects...

Thanks,
Joe

Hello, you can create for every template one parent object and all objects with this template assign with this parent. Then create menu item from these parent objects.

Hi!
Same problem for me.
I want to have the menu item specified only for one template. It is a mess then I get subjects list with hotels, cars and books in one list.
Also I want to point googleadwords to list of books for example. not to all subjects page.

Making parent in template does not change anything. When I do menu Item "objects list" and put Parent ID in Select object field. Nothing changes. Such menu item still gives full list of objects except parents.

Please explain how to "create menu item from these parent objects." May be I do something wrong.

It should be very usefull if you allow to show subjects list with preselected template.

Thank you!

Hello, if you use JoomSEF then objects IDs are saved in them. You should delete saved SEF URL and let generate them again.

Even if JoomSEF is turned off I cannt still make the menu item pointed to special template objects list.
But in your demo site it works perfect. means that the problem is on my side.
Will dig it and report.
Thanks for support

For example:

You have two templates tennis_court and squash_court

Objects structure looks like

  • Tennis hall (ID 1)
    • Tennis court 1
    • Tennis court 2
    • Tennis court 3
  • Squash hall (ID 2)
    • Squash court 1
    • Squash court 2
    • Squash court 3

You should create two menu items for Tennis and Squash hall. It means for parent objects ID 1 and 2.
