TOPIC: Community builder profile link issue

Community builder profile link issue 10 years ago #43911

I have set JOOMSEF to show CB profiles following the format: mysite.com/username

This is working (pasting it directly on the browser). However, clicking through the mywebsites to show profile e.g. via my profile name, avatar or etc., it uses mysite.com/myprofile instead as default.

How do I set it so that it will use mysite.com/username all throughout my site?

Hi,

Please navigate to JoomSEF -> Manage SEF URLs, search for the "myprofile" SEF URL and post a screenshot of listed URLs so we can check their Real URLs. Thank you.

Hi Dajo,

I've kinda understood what's causing the issue but I could not solve the problem.

1. mysite/myprofile ==>mysite/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userprofile
2. mysite/username ==> mysite/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&...r=981&Itemid=744

#1 is default from CB wherein you have to have a menu item that links to your profile as mandatory. When you click this, it uses the OLD URL without the userid. That;s why its named as myprofile in the SEF URL using the menu's alias.

How do I make it in such a way that it populates the user id so that I would only be routed to #2 SEF URL? Is there a way for me to manualy edit the SEF rules to append variables or reroute this URL to a specified OLD URL so that I can display the correct link?

This becomes a problem I suppose when people shares their profiles by simply copying what they have on their browser URL field.

Thanks.

Lyle

Hi,

Now I undestand what you are trying to achieve. Unfortunately, this is not currently possible using JoomSEF.
You would either need to modify Community Builder's code to always add user ID to its profile links, or we could implement such option to our Community Builder JoomSEF extension as a paid service for you.

Hi Dajo,

I understand. Does this come free if I already bought the community builder extension for JOOMSEF? If not, how much?

Thanks!

Hi,

No, customizations are not free. For this modification, 1 hour of our support time would be needed. For pricing see: www.artio.net/e-shop/support-services/joomla-support-1h
