TOPIC: New SEF's while creation of new SEF's is disabled

New SEF's while creation of new SEF's is disabled 11 years, 10 months ago #31706

Hi,

I have JoomSEF set to disable creation of new SEF's because it was adding too many URLS (RSS, Feeds etc)

So I removed all the SEF's I did not want, then set JoomSEF to disable creation of new SEF's. When I add new content to the website, I was manually adding the new SEF. This worked fine, but now I have added new content which forms part of a Fusion drop down menu.

Now I manually added the SEF, which works if I manually type the new SEF into a browser, however when I click the drop down menu and on mouse over and click it still shows and takes me to the old SEF.

Why is the URL in the menu not updating to the new SEF?

Hi,
Make sure that you clear caches in Joomla and JoomSEF after any changes to SEF URLs.

Hi

I did clear both caches and checked in all files but the menu still doesn't show the new SEF URL?

My link looks like this: www.mydomain.co.za/index.php?option=com_...d=115&Itemid=212

It should be:

www.mydomain.co.za/vouchers/town-spa-jhb

What's the non-SEF URL set in your manually created SEF URL? It needs to follow some rules:
1. The option variable needs to be the first one
2. Other variables need to be in alphabetical order

Make sure that your non-SEF URL looks like:
Non-SEF URL: index.php?option=com_k2&id=115&view=item
Itemid: 212

Thanx Dajo - using your format about it's working fine now.

My old SEF was index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=117

I just copied this from the URL when I opened the link. So now I know for future links.

Thank you
