Hello,

I've bought a paid version after installed a free version.
If I'm trying to install the package, I get the following error:

JFTP: :store: Bad response
JInstaller: :Install: Failed to copy file /home/iloveto/domains/ilovetoshop.nl/public_html/tmp/install_50219711ca092/site/sef_ext/_com_example.txt to /home/iloveto/domains/ilovetoshop.nl/public_html/components/com_sef/sef_ext/_com_example.txt
Error updating component.

Online update doesn't work either.
I haven't deinstalled the free version, because I don't know if all the settings and redirects I created will be deleted (what I don't want of course).

Hi,

It seems that JoomSEF's directories and files are not writable by your FTP user. Make sure that your FTP user has permissions to write to following directories and all their subdirectories and files:
/administrator/components/com_sef
/components/com_sef
/plugins/system/
/libraries/joomla/installer/adapters
/libraries/joomla/updater/adapters

Hi Dajo,

All the directories you mentioned have the right permission, checked server/user permission and 755 for the folders.

I also have a development site (with copy of the live site) and unistalled the Artio component, then I got an 500 server error and couldn't login in the admin anymore. I'm glad that it was our development site and not our live site. Seems that there is something really wrong. Can you tell me how to unstall the Artio component manually? I think that is the only option for now and then try to install it again.

Before doing this, don't forget to backup your website. To manually uninstall JoomSEF you need to:
1. Delete following directories:
/administrator/components/com_sef
/components/com_sef
/plugins/content/joomsef
/plugins/extension/joomsefinstall
/plugins/system/joomsef
/plugins/system/joomsefgoogle
/plugins/system/joomseflang

2. Delete following files:
/libraries/joomla/installer/adapters/sef_ext.php
/libraries/joomla/updater/adapters/sef_update.php
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_sef.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_sef.sys.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_content_joomsef.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_content_joomsef.sys.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_extension_joomsefinstall.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_extension_joomsefinstall.sys.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_system_joomsef.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_system_joomsef.sys.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_system_joomseflang.ini
/administrator/language/en-GB/en-GB.plg_system_joomseflang.sys.ini

3. Drop following tables in your database:
#_sef_statistics
#_sef_subdomains
#_sefaliases
#_sefexts
#_sefexttexts
#_seflog
#_sefmoved
#_sefurls
#_sefurlword_xref
#_sefwords

4. Delete records for all the items installed by JoomSEF from #_extensions table:
- all records where type='sef_ext'
- records where type='plugin' and element is 'joomsef', 'joomseflang', 'joomsefgoogle' and 'joomsefinstall'
- record where type='component' and element='com_sef'

5. Delete records for JoomSEF admin menu from #_menu table:
- all records where menutype='main' and title starts with COM_SEF

(# in table names stands for your Joomla database tables prefix)

Let me know if you have any problems.
