TOPIC: Sitemap Problem

Sitemap Problem 10 years ago #43632

There is this notification 'Your sitemap file is deprecated or not created. After you make all the changes, you should hit the Generate XML button.'

And when I click generate XML it provides me this message 'Error Generating XML: Cannot create the specified XML file.'

How can I solve this ?!

Hi,

By default, a file named sitemap.xml is being created in your Joomla's root directory. You need to make sure that the directory is writable by your Apache server, so the file can be created.

There isn't a file called 'sitemap.xml' or anything like that in my Joomla's root directory...

Exactly, because it cannot be created by JoomSEF. You must set the permissions for your Joomla root directory so that the file can be created by Apache, or you must create it manually (eg. using FTP) and set the file permissions so that Apache can write to it.

Okay, this worked thanks!

Although now, the sitemap doesn't include all my url's...

Hi,

You can set which URLs should be indexed in the sitemap XML file in JoomSEF's Sitemap Manager. Please check the Sitemap chapter in JoomSEF's documentation for more details: www.artio.net/joomsef/documentation#sitemap
