After installing JoomSEF the performance of the system decreased dramattically.
If both Joomla's and JoomSEF SEO are on, does that lead to performance issues?

I tried to turn Joomla's biult in Search Engine Friendly URLs off and leave JoomSEF on but the system crashes. Even the home page became unaccessible.
What should be the correct configuration so that I turn the Search Engine Friendly URLs off.
