TOPIC: A question of 404

Been testing the sef on a couple of 3 sites, and impressive.

I have a question though, and please foregive if its really stupid ...

When I checked the awstat logs on the server I get a string of 404s

%5C%22.$mosConfig_live_site.%22/index2.php
/\".$mosConfig_live_site.\"/index2.php
/\\".$mosConfig_live_site.\"/index2.php
/\".$mosConfig_live_site.\"/index2.php
/%5C%22.$mosConfig_live_site.%22/index2.php
/%22.$mosConfig_live_site.%22/index2.php

which don't seem to be associated with an obviously missing page/file (the root index.php page mostly)

On one site the SEF url logs are dominated by an ever growing number of

404-10.html index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=39&Itemid=39&mosmsg=FILE NOT FOUND: ".$mosConfig_live_site."/index2.php

I am probably missing something obvious?

Any clarification would be most welcome, like how often is the purge necessary?

Looking forward to the VM integration ;)

Thanks

Any advice on this question?

... I predict the logs will clog the system up if I go live with this problem unresolved

help / pointers appreciated

cheers

Yes there is a problem with the editors on the 404 page

If you create a static link inside the 404 page to a page or domain, lets say

www.domain.com/

and you would open the code, its messed up

www.*******/%5C%22/%5C%22

tried different editors, didn't help.

Thanks.

Not quite sure I understood your reply, but basically I have now turned off the redirect to 404 page. I also referred the 404s in the to index.php and the 404 clutter disappears!

I'll check the logs tomorrow to see if its all in order!

Thanks again
