TOPIC: Cant access joomla administrator, get 404 error

Cant access joomla administrator, get 404 error 13 years, 11 months ago #12394

Hi,

I have just installed ijoomsef and appears to be working well accept I can not access the /administrator/index.php path, it keeps throwing a 404 error.

Can anyone be kind enough to let me know what I need to change to allow access.

I can only get back to the Joomla adminstrator screens if I reset the .htaccess back to original therefor killing ijoomsef.

Thanks, Paul.

Hello,

What do you mean by ".htaccess back to original therefor killing ijoomsef"? The standard Joomla's default .htaccess should work fine with JoomSEF.

Um, Thought I was supposed to change that file (confused?)

I changed the original I had

<Files 403.shtml>
order allow,deny
allow from all
</Files>

deny from 202.6.117.66

Hello,

Yes, that is correct, however, you should also uncomment this line:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
