TOPIC: index.php redirect while site under construction

index.php redirect while site under construction 13 years, 5 months ago #15257

while my site is under construction i wanted all visitors to be directed to index.html. when one types the domain, they will go to index.html instead of index.php.

i got this working fine but i wanted to take this a step further and redirect people who type index.php to index.html. This way they cannot see the website while im working on it. i set this up but now i dont remember how i did it and i want to turn it off and there are only two ways to do it.

either remove the index.html file or disable joomsef.
at this point i would like to revert back to the default setting, being if one types the domain they will get the index.html and if they add the index.php they will actually see the site.

does anyone know how i did this: permanently redirect the index.php to index.html through the use of joomsef?

i tried uninstalling joomsef and reinstalling but it didnt change.

Hello,

First of all, open JoomSEF's configuration and on the Advanced tab disable the "Fix index.php links" option. If that doesn't help, open the Edit .htaccess page in JoomSEF and check if you have the redirection created there.
