TOPIC: Questions about JoomSEF 4

Questions about JoomSEF 4 12 years ago #29142

Hi,

I am using joomla 1.7 and 2.5 and would like to know the following things:

Will JoomSEF 4 be able to rewrite Marketplace categories url from domain.com/3-Equipamentos%20usados%20PC.html to domain.com/Equipamentos-usados-PC.htm without using the plugins ?

Is JoomSEF 4 able to automatically create canonical url tag for all pages ?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The answer for your first question is no, you would need to purchase our Marketplace extension for JoomSEF: www.artio.net/e-shop/joomsef/joomsef-ext...-joomsef-4-extension

The canonical URL tag is automatically created only for SEF links that contain some non-SEF variables. Example:
If you visit URL: domain.com/this-is-sef-url?page=5
It contains the "page" non-SEF variable, so the canonical link tag to pure SEF URL is created like:
<link rel="canonical" href="domain.com/this-is-sef-url" />

I'm using J1.5.26 and ZOO 2.4.18
PHP 5.2.17

Should this also work in ZOO urls like this?
www.domain.com/zoocategory/?page=2

The idea is to have on all pagination pages the same canonical URL: www.domain.com/zoocategory

I tried it with a Yoonique plugin as I'm using that one, but there is some wrong var substitution, the and result is like this:
www.domain.com/zoocategory/2?page=2 - He is rendering both, SEF and non SEF var...
I'm wondering, should this even work, maybe I need the Artio's ZOO plugin for that?

The worst thing is that at the beginning it was working.... :/ And than the doble var error appeared and I'm not able to make it work...

P.S. The var was introduced in JoomSEF > Configuration > Advanced > Non-SEF URLs and variables

Yes, the canonical link generation should work with all SEF URLs handled by JoomSEF - so it doesn't work with URLs handled by Joomla itself.
We don't test or provide support for 3rd party JoomSEF extensions, so I can't tell if the Yoonique Zoo extension is working correctly.
What are your configuration settings in the JoomSEF > Configuration > Advanced > Non-SEF URLs and variables section? Could you post a screenshot?

Yes, it's totally reasonable that you don't give the support for third parties plugins, that why I really appreciate your attention.
I attached the config settings, I tried all the possible combinations... The non SEF var looks like this page=2, that why I used the page word, specially my problem is with pagination, on some places I fixed it manually, but it's not the best way...

It seems that the Zoo extension you use always adds the page number to SEF URL, but because you also have the page variable set as Custom non-SEF, JoomSEF also adds it to URL's query string as non-SEF.
If you want URLs like this: www.domain.com/zoocategory/?page=2 the Zoo extension will need to be customized so it doesn't add the page number to SEF URL.
