Hello!

We are about to relaunch our website currently running on Joomla 1.0 and Virtuemart 1.0 to Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2.0.2. In order not to lose our Google rankings, we would like to recreate our old URLs. These look like the following:

www.ourdomain.com/catalogue/productcategory/productname.htm

the Joomla 2.5 and Virtuemart 2.0.2. URLs look like this:

www.ourdomain.com/productcategory/productname-detail.html

Is it possible to add the folder "catalogue" to any Virtuemart page? It is also necessary to get rid of the product name suffix ("-detail") which can't be simply removed in the new Virtuemart version.

Help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
Do you use our VirtueMart extension for JoomSEF? Or are the URLs generated by VirtueMart's own router?

No, I don't use any extension to create the URLs. I've managed to add the "catalogue" folder so far, but the Virtuemart product page suffix is giving me quite a headache.

I've found a tutorial to alter the Joomla router.php to change the file suffix from html to htm on any page, but when I do this, I can't get into the Virtuemart products. All that happens when I click on a product is, that the category page reloads, although the product URL appears in the address field of the browser.

To fix the suffix, try changing the "File suffix" option in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Basic tab.
To remove the "-detail" part you'll probably need to modify the VirtueMart's router.php code.

Thank you for your help. I've found a solution for me. I am adding .htm as a suffix in virtuemart and redirect the most important pages with the internal Joomla redirect module.
