I'm having problems getting the EU VAT Checker to work with Joomla 1.5.23 and VM 1.1.6.

My shop is based in the Netherlands. VAT calculation is OK, both outside Europe and within the Netherlands. However, for customers in Europe outside NL, tax is ALWAYS calculated, no matter if they supply a valid VAT ID.

I've been looking for the problem for a few days now. Of course I use European Union modus for the tax and I published the VAT field. After a while, I found out that the customer information is not saved into the database (can easily be checked in a VM Order). This is probably because we don't use customer registration on the website. This means, there is no customer VAT ID registered either. But there is the ORDER VAT ID.

To see if this causes the problem, I switched on the registration and placed an order as a registered user. VAT is calculated the right way now!

Question: Does the EU VAT Checker only work for registered users? Or is there a way to make it work without registration? (The VAT ID is in the Order information, so I reckon it should be possible . . .)

Sorry, you wrote post to the wrong forum. VAT Chcecker is for Magento!
