Thanks for your input. I was about to uninstall JoomSEF but decided to recheck everything and on doing so found the words: "Your SEO optimized title" as part of the head tags in the template index.php file. Once the tag had been deleted it reverted to the JoomSEF titles. Problem solved.

It would be interesting to know where it came from as I certainly did not code it in and it was not part of the original template. We shall probably never know. Many thanks.

any luck finding the source of "Your SEO optimized title" ?

thanks :)
Title tag

In the header of home and other pages, I'm seeing this:

<meta name="title" content="Test Title Here" />
<meta name="description" content="Home Static Article Meta Description" />
<meta name="generator" content="Joomla! - Open Source Content Management" />
<title>Test Title Here</title>

See the <title>Test Title Here</title> in there?

Isn't that an unintended sort-of duplication?

How can I eliminate that second <title> tag in the header?

Thanks :)

Is there a reason why you want full URLs?

with the partial urls, it's possible to mix https and http, and once you click any https link, the site stays in https for the remainder of the visit

in other words, i've heard that if your homepage for instance is seen by google as both http and https that it somehow reduces the value of either version, that goog may index two versions of your homepage. meaning, it's better to limit https pages to just those that require it but have all other pages remain as http so as not to water down the page value

am i off target?

thanks

is it possible to create full urls in the content and nav links?

instead of:

/something/something/

they would be:

www.mysite.com/something/something

if this is not possible in free version but is possible in pro version, let me know

thanks :-)

is this a possibility with the pro version?

or, can you do something like have /my-custom-article/index.php for all articles rather than having to put .php on the end of each article name?

/my-custom-article/index.php --- yes
/my-custom-article.php --- no

whatcha think?

thanks :)

joomla 2.5.8

joomsef free 4.3.0

when i create an article, i need to display a forward slash at end of the article title alias:

www.mysite.com/custom-article-name/

reason is that site will have only a few articles and each article needs to look like a top-level directory index.php file so going to the directory should trigger the article

i've tried a few settings but i find that if i put a / as the "file suffix" that the custom url goes to a 404 instead of to the article

thanks :-)

If I remember right, there were some issues with duplicate content:

Does Joomla 1.5 correct this issue (if anyone knows) ?

Many thanks :-)

One thing I do, too, is to not have duplicate menu items on the same page.

Meaning, I rely on a top horizontal menu. If I also have a bottom or side menu, I don't put another &quot;News&quot; link in the side menu.

Examine your generated URLs to see where you can reduce duplicates

Did you purge the SEF URLs? Maybe this would help.

Joomla 1.0.12

Using JoomSEF 1.5.1

Installed cleanly

The only thing not working so far (that I've found) is com_weblinks.

The sef link works, but I get the following message:

&quot; You are not authorised to view this resource.
You need to login.&quot;

The menu item is Public, and I installed 1.5.1 on different sites with the same results

Any ideas?

Ah....found it:

Artio Configuration &gt; Exclude source info (Itemid) &gt; YES

When I set this to YES, no more duplicate items were created, just one.

However, the INFO button next to this feature said:

This will exclude information about link source (Itemid) from URL. This may prevent duplicate URLs, but probably will limit your Joomla! functionality.

How will it limit the Joomla functionality? Not sure what we're losing. If this could be explained, it would be great. Thanks :-)

Just upgraded to Artio 1.5, but the duplicate issue remains

I have a single content item named News About Today

1. The Linked title of the article (on the Front Page) has it correct:

/news-about-today.html

index.php?option=com_content&amp;Itemid=1&amp;id=4&amp;task=view

2. The Latest News side module has it as:

/news-about-today-3.html

index.php?option=com_content&amp;Itemid=5&amp;id=4&amp;task=view

3. And, something else has it like this:

/news-about-today-2.html

index.php?option=com_content&amp;id=4&amp;limit=&amp;limitstart=&amp;pop=1&amp;task=view

It does this with all my content items<br><br>Post edited by: scanreg, at: 2007/04/26 13:22

With Artio 1.5 out, it mentions this fix:

What are the main improvemets in v1.5.0?

* Added option to accept URLs both with/without trailing slash
* Added option not to store 404 page hits records to decrease number of SQL queries
* Fixed some duplicate URLs issues (especially with VirtueMart)

Is this the duplicate issue that we've been mentioning?

Thanks :-)
