Okay... so I like how ARTIO JoomSEF handles 404 pages, but I do not want all of the URL re-writing that it does. Is there a way to get rid of all of the other stuff that JoomSEF does and just keep its 404 editor/manager thing?

I'm sure this sounds silly... =p

My 404 is just really broken right now and I can't figure out why. All it says is \"Restricted access\". Go to www.lawltech.com/832u9jf49fjfj to see what I mean about my 404 page being broken...

FYI: I don't currently have JoomSEF installed.

Hello, I am no longer using JoomSEF because it is giving me too many issues and I'd rather just not deal with it. It is a great component, but it doesn't really handle my site structure too well and I am not willing to change things to fit ARTIO.

Anyway, my problem is this.

After uninstalling JoomSEF I still have the "JoomSEO by Phill Brown (www.joomseo.com)." advertisement in my meta generator tag. It is still on old pages and it is being applied to new pages that I create also. Since I am no longer using your component I don't think I should be advertising for you.

How do I remove this advertisement from my site?

If you can not post the answer here then please feel free to contact me.

Thanks for your support,

My site was getting anywhere between 15-30 visits a day from Google using Joomla's built in SEO, where it puts /content/view/id/id type of structure. Since I started using JoomSEF, the duplicate content really killed my rankings. Now I am lucky to get 2-5 visitors from Google. I've been editing my robots.txt and .htaccess to see if I can fix the problems with duplicate content getting into the SERPs but so far it's been very frustrating because I still can't get Google traffic.

Since I was screwing around with all of those little append ID options and stuff, now most of the google results lead to 404 pages. My search traffic is really extremely low right now and I am having a lot of trouble fixing it. Maybe I should just turn off JoomSEF and go back to Joomla's SEO feature.

That, or maybe I can contact Google and tell them to purge all of my results and start over again... is that possible?

When I was using Joomla's SEO, my pages would rank on the first pages of Google for the title of the article. Now with all of JoomSEF's duplicate content and 404 crap running amuck, I can't even get my pages to show up when I search for the exact title of my article.

Post edited by: Phishie, at: 2007/05/31 21:58
