TOPIC: SEO by Artio in PAID VERSION - Come on!!!

Re:SEO by Artio in PAID VERSION - Come on!!! 15 years, 8 months ago #4867

I just purchased your SEF extension and your "SEO by Artio" link is on all my pages too.

I installed your latest version and I'm in Joomla 1.5 in legacy mode. I really don't want to have to jump through hoops to get this taken off such as having to install a new package!!! Where in the code is it so I can delete it?

There is a lot more to SEO than SEF and I'd really rather take the credit for that myself than give it away. But you do have a fantastic product! Thanks! I'll be sure to leave a good review for you at Joomla.com after we get this taken care of.

Thank you for your help.

Kathy

Hello,

We do not provide a guide on how to remove our SEO by Artio link. You need to reinstall JoomSEF using the paid package you purchased. But don't worry, the reinstallation procedure is fully automatic and you won't lose any of your configuration or SEF URLs, but it is a good idea to always have a recent backup of the site and database prior to doing such changes on production site. Just go to Upgrade page from Joomla's Control panel toolbar and manually select the paid package you purchased - reinstall instead of upgrade will be initiated.

Best regards,

I tried reinstalling and it said I can't because it already exists.

For the benefit of others reading this (and hopefully you do before you install), first, do not install a free version. ARTIO will love me for saying that, but I'm just trying to protect you from their credits which end up not only on the bottom of every page, but other unsightly and unwelcome places. So, buy instead unless you are working in a development area.

When you purchase, they land you on a page to enter your license number. They fill it in for you, but don't be duped. It's not your license number, it's a free version which will put those credits on your pages. They tell you to look in your inbox for the license number. I did, but it ended up in my spam folder. So, THINKING that the license number they conveniently filled in for me was mine, I pressed submit to download my package. I installed it, only later to find out it was the free version with their advertising. I've been trying days now to get it removed. They've been responding but there are usually 24 hour delays between emails.

They tell me to reinstall. I can't because I run into the error message that it already exists. Then they tell me to uninstall. I'm afraid to because I'm afraid I'll lose the urls I created and that I built 301 redirects for. So, I'm dead in the water here, waiting for more instructions from them, and all the while my site is acting like a very nice piece of advertisement for them. (SEO by ARTIO it says. Guys, there's so much more to SEO than SEF. Hate to say it, but that's false advertising.)

My discontent with the install process should not deter you from trying out this program, however. So far, other than their advertising, it looks like a great program. I haven't used it long enough to experience any of the problems others have, but I don't foresee any.

Hopefully, I'll get my problem resolved and post the solution here for the benefit of others.

ARTIO if you're reading this forum, please tell me what to try next. Or tell me my URLS will NOT change if I uninstall like you want me to. If they will, I don't want to do that. Can I manually reinstall by just copying over files instead?

And PLEASE TAKE OUT that license fee you give to people to use at the end of the purchase process. I hate to say it, but it reflects poorly on you. Your intent may be purely innocent, but, honestly, it comes across as trickery.
