don't know what is doing it and it seems JoomSEF wont work without it turned on....what to do?

Hello,
if you see jsut blank page, you need to find the source of the error.
Try to check 2 things:
1) set error reporting in Joomla to maximum (in global configuration)
2) check the webserver error logs
