I mentioned that my JoomSEF extension for VirtueMart numbers the URLs for my products :-(

I didn't realize this in the past. Was this changed in one of the last updates?

I think for search engines it's very bad when multiple URLs for one product exist.

Now I disabled this feature. But Google has indexed almost all products with the wrong ( a numbered) URL now :-(

What is the sense of this feature?

Hello,

There are two options that can cause this:

"Number duplicate product names" in VirtueMart extension parameters - this is used when you have multiple products with the same title present, so each of them has different SEF URL, so they are all accessible.

"Number duplicate URLs" either in global JoomSEF configuration or in every extension parameters - this option can be used, when there are problems with the same SEF URLs being generated for different pages. With this option enabled, the SEF URLs are numbered, so all the pages are accessible.

There were no change made to these options in last updates. The "Number duplicate product names" is enabled by default and "Number duplicate URLs" is disabled by default.

I don't have multiple products but JoomSEF anyway created numbered URLs.

And I'm sure that it's very bad for search engines when numbered URLs are created !

I've already explained both options. If there are numbered URLs generated when there shouldn't, please post some examples of such URLs (the SEF URLs with corresponding Real URLs from Manage SEF URLs page).
