TOPIC: Joomsef 4 Upgrade is a COMMERCIAL LIE

Joomsef 4 Upgrade is a COMMERCIAL LIE 11 years, 1 month ago #37206

Hello

I appreciate very much your work at Artio but you have a lousy system of communicating your products and even more strange way of showing how to use them.

I am still using Joomsef 3 and I am migrating my website to Joomla 2.5 and of course that I need to migrate my urls. For that I purchased an Joomsef 4 Upgrade. Actually UPGRADE means that a component gets to upgrade and Joomsef 4 Upgrade is nothing but an upgrade of my membership.

In my ignorance I understood that with this component for which I have paid 9,90 euros I could migrate the Joomsef 3 urls. Now I see that is a misunderstanding. I will have to purchase a new license soon and I will lose my old urls because I must move to Joomla 2.5. I know that I could import urls through database migration but that does not satisfy me.

Best Regards,
Felix

Hi,

You can export the URLs from JoomSEF 3 and import them again in JoomSEF 4.
But this doesn't mean that they will work correctly, because components in Joomla 2.5 use different URLs structure than in Joomla 1.5. So it's not even possible to correctly migrate all the URLs. For example the articles in Joomla 2.5 use totally different categories system.

Probably the best option is to set up JoomSEF 4 to generate the same SEF URLs as your JoomSEF 3 did and let them be generated again. However if you have some custom URLs in JoomSEF 3, you will need to migrate them manually.
