TOPIC: Multilanguage site: Get language from browser fail

Multilanguage site: Get language from browser fail 11 years, 3 months ago #36649

Hello.

We set up a new multilanguage site on Joomla 2.5. We use two different toplevel domains to seperate the language versions.

german site: mysite.de
english site: mysite.com

settings of JoomSEF:
Get language from browser setting?: Yes
Use 303 for root redirect: Yes
Main language: DE

If a user enters the .com site the first time (no cookies set) and his browser has a German locale, we need to redirect the user to the German version of the site.
Unfortunately this is not working.

I really need help how to debug this because this feature is essential for our new site.

Any help appreciated.

Hi,

If you use different domains for your languages the language recognition from browser setting is currently not used, because the language is defined directly by the domain used to access the site.
So I'm sorry, but JoomSEF currently doesn't support the configuration you require. We'll add it to our requested features list.
