TOPIC: Newbie Help on New Installation

Newbie Help on New Installation 11 years, 1 month ago #38209

Hello.

Recently purchased JoomSEF 4 because I read it was the best to deal with my situation - but I'm not sure how to set it up for what I need.

Info before JoomSEF Install:
I have a HikaShop installation that I want to have a separate template to be used for the store than the main site's template.

When I have SEF settings turned off (Search Engine Friendly URLs & Use URL rewriting), I have the ability to see the different template assigned to different menus (not just HikaShop).

However, when I turn on SEF settings, it just goes with the default template.

After JoomSEFT Install:
I changed all the functions, deleted SEF URLs, and everything I could think of - no go for any expected outcome.
I've tried to shutoff Joomla's SEF and try making a URL specific - didn't think it would work, and it didnt.

I'm confident that if I could get the URL issue resolved, I could get the HikaShop issue working fairly easily.
I'm sure it's something simple that I havent set up correctly. Please assist.

System Stats:
Joomla: 2.5.9
Server:
Apache version: 2.2.23
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.5.30-log
Architecture: x86_64
Operating system: linux
JoomSEF: JoomSEF 4

Hi,

First of all make sure that everything is enabled in JoomSEF's Control Panel in the SEF Status box.

Then try disabling the "Ignore multiple sources" option in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Advanced tab. After this change delete already created SEF URLs using JoomSEF's URLs Manager and clear Joomla's and JoomSEF's caches if you use them.

Ok.

I've done those things.
What do I do next? All pages still show default template (I have both SEF settings on Joomla as still on).

Disable the SEF completely in Joomla's Global Configuration and check what Itemid is used in the URL for your Hikashop page.
Enable SEF again and check what SEF URL is used for your Hikashop. Find the SEF URL in JoomSEF's URLs Manager and check whether the Itemid stored for it is the same as the Itemid used when SEF is disabled.

But if I understand correctly your first post, the templates don't work for you even with default Joomla SEF enabled without JoomSEF installed? In that case there's probably some problem with the Hikashop template handling and I don't think that JoomSEF will help with that.

I think I might have confused the issue talking about HikaShop.

I also have the same problem with my downloads section (PhocDownload).
How about we figure out how to get that working (I have the template set different than the default template for PhocaDownload also).
If I shut off Joomla SEF the new template shows. But when I turn it on.... just the default template shows.

How do we go about figuring out PhocaDownload. I already went in and ticked what I thought should be on in the JoomSEF settings for the extension.
And I forgot to mention before, thanks for all this help.

Have you checked whether the Itemid with SEF disabled matches the Itemid stored with SEF URLs in JoomSEF's URLs Manager?

Does your template work if you only disable JoomSEF (in JoomSEF's Configuration on the Basic tab) and leave default Joomla's SEF enabled (in Joomla's Global Configuration)?
