TOPIC: backward compatibility with previous URLS

backward compatibility with previous URLS 17 years, 2 months ago #1421

So before install of SEF I had URLS of the form:
seclab.uiuc.edu/web/content/view/61/61/
which are now cached in search engines, bookmarked, etc.

Now the URL is:
seclab.uiuc.edu/web/critical-infrastructure/januss-map.html
and if the old URL is used from a search engine or wherever it throws a 404 not found.

Is there a way to add a rule to .htaccess or something that would maintain back compatibilty with those old links by rewriting or redirecting them?

Thanks,

I agree, this is a big issue for me too. I thought it worked for me before I upgraded to 1.3.3 the other day. Was it working for both of you guys before too? This is really hurting my search engine rankings as the number of 404 errors is huge. Please post a solution.
