I have been trying to figure out a way to fix this problem for days. I found a few other threads with users having a similar type of problem with no responses.

I am using the latest joomla code with ArtioSEF. When my live_site in configuration.php is set with no "www" I get a http 500 error , looking at the server logs I am getting
(malformed header from script. Bad header=HTTP 1.0 301 Moved Permanently). I have tried various mod_rewrite settings and nothing will work. If I place the www back in the configuration.php it will work.

Using a mod_rewrite to remove the www also ends up with an error.

Anybody run into this and have a fix?


I am also running iJoomla and this will not work with it either.

ok there are 2 problems.

1) there was a typo in the code as regards the 301 header, which is fixed now. (just download the component again and replace sef.php file or reinstall)
2) if you want both www.sitename.domain and sitename.domain work, you can simply do it with Apache configuration (using ServerAlias directive) there are no special changes needed to be done in Joomla or JomSEF. Alternativelly you may add an extra RewriteRule to your .htaccess file to redirect all requests from www to site without www or vice versa.
