TOPIC: PHP5 problems

PHP5 problems 16 years, 8 months ago #3129

I have Joomla 1.0.13 hosted at HostGator. I wanted to use PHP5 for extra security layer.

HG use PHPSuEXEC

I have this line in .htaccess: AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

The end result is that the home page index.php registers a 404. All other pages are working fine.

I don't have a problem if it's in php4 so am wondering just how important PHP5 is vs. PHP4.

Thank you for advice.

I'm having the exact same problem under the exact some conditions.

Did anyone ever figure out a fix?

After trying a number of things I finally got the home page to show up after disabling the Cache feature within the Artio JoomSEF config. :)

Well... A little update after further testing...

With PHP 5 and Artio JoomSEF my Community Builder registration confirmation and AcaJoom newsletter sign up no longer work, so I'm falling back to PHP 4 again for the time being while I try to work out the problem.

=(

Good news!

I installed 2.2.3 (removing 2.2.2 first and doing a clean install just to be sure), and Eureka! It works again!

I can now use PHP 5 without issues. CB and Acajoom registration and confirmation work great. And I no longer need to have custom redirects for / and /index.php. JoomSEF correctly redirects these on its own to my home page.

As a side note, using phpMyAdmin I exported my jos_redirection table before uninstalling and then imported it again after installing so as not to leave any of my old redirects undefined. I probably wouldn't have needed to do so if I did an in place upgrade, but I wanted a clean slate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

=)
