TOPIC: SF just WILL NOT work

SF just WILL NOT work 17 years, 6 months ago #120

Hi all,

We have installed the SEF component and done everything as advised.

When we mouseover links they show really nice looking URLS, but when we click then we get

Not Found
The requested URL /0800-number-providers.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

This is the same on all links.

htaccess.txt has been renamed to .htaccess and the contents is copied straight from the documentation.

Please advise!

Many Thanks

Gary

Gary did you try and comment out the line

Hi Gary,

if you copied the .htaccess from docs, make sure that the RewriteBase matches YOUR Joomla! installation. Please note that the .htaccess content is just an example and works unchanged only if your Joomla! installation is in the root of an domain.

If it is in any subdirectory, the RewriteBase must be changed accordingly.

The file is installe din the root so I dont see that I would need to change anything?

Many Thanks

Gary

Gary, first open your .htaccess in wordpad so you can see normal text. Download it to your PC if you need it. In the end you will see what you have to do so it'll work for ya!:)

Hi there.

I seem to be having the same problem.

my site is installed like the following
www.sitename.com/subdir

I've updated the .htaccess line:
# RewriteBase /dunk

When i go to the home page www.sitename.com/subdir and hover over the other links the URL it provides is correct: eg www.sitename.com/subdir/about-us.html

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this component looks great and i'm really keen to use it
