too many pages 17 years, 3 months ago #1221

Hello @ all,

today my website wasn´t available with following error message :

too many pages

In Artio Configuration Page i saw that there were over11000 pages !
I deleted them all and website was ok ...
Prob is, that google spidered my site and the most of URL´s have now 404

How can i fix it, so that won´t happen again ?

Using Joomla 1.0.11 and Artio 1.3.1

Best regards

Hello

I have the same problem with joomla 1.0.12, artio joomsef 1.3.3 with my joomlaboard (1.1.4) messages, and I often have to clear sef urls...

How can I fix this problem ?

Thank you

I am now having this problem with one site. It is Joomla 1.0.13 and was using Artio 2.2.2. I just upgraded it to 2.2.3 but the problem remained. So, I purged all SEF urls (except custom urls) and the site worked again. There were over 45000 SEF url listings in Artio. The site has lots of content and lots of traffic. After removing all the entries, it is now already back up to over 44000. I am worried about this \"too many pages\" error happening again.

How can I avoid this? What is the actual page count limit?

Yikes!

I'm runing up against 35k SEF URL's.

I'd also like to know if there's a hard limit!

There is several things you may like to do:

1. disable SEF for components that do not have direct JoomSEF support -- these may generate tons of URLs you do not want; just change the option for such component from \"use default handler\" to \"skip\" or \"do no cache\"

2. check what components generate most of the links, try to check the reasons (how do the URLs differ, do they seem all right)

3. at some point, when you have main URLs generated as SEO, turn on the JoomSEF option \"do not generate more URLs\"; no more URLs will be stored to your DB

4. always use caching

This is NOT a real solution... if your site actually is so static that you never need to create new SEF urls again, then you wouldn't be having this problem to begin with.

Our site is very dynamic and changing constantly. Currently, there are about 25K content items and with everything else going on in the site, after purging the SEF urls, it gets back to 44-45K SEF urls pretty quick. The largest external data feed to the site already is set to be skipped by Artio cause it makes crappy urls for it.

So, I need a real solution to this problem. What is the actual limit? This question was not answered. Is Artio just meant for smaller websites? Do I need to just find another SEF solution?
