TOPIC: Error 500

Error 500 15 years, 2 months ago #5850

Order: 3687
Joomla Version 1.5.6

Installed the extension, the documentation popped up and BAM all i get is an internal server error 500. I can't access the admin or any page on the website.

Someone help me out here, i'd be happy just uninstalling this, but i have no idea how.

Marcus

Hello Markus,

most likely the problem is in .htaccess file.
Try commenting out the Option FollowSymLink directive.
Also check our FAQ to find more on this problem.

If uncommenting the directive in .htaccess does not help, just delete or rename it (e.g. to _htaccess).
The reason is, that the default file most probably includes a directive not supported by your server. It might also not support .htaccess files at all.

You can check with your server admin or buy the installation service from us.

Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong .htaccess file to me... in the root directory i see a file named htaccess.txt ... not .htaccess ... am i looking at that same file?

If so, i have tried commenting out a dozen different ways, and no luck.

I've renamed it to _htaccess.txt .... and no luck

I've deleted the file... and no luck

I've looked at the FAQ, and your last post was more informative than the FAQ.

I'm somewhat against paying you to install, this since i just bought it and it's completely crapped out on me... but i'm thinking paying you to install it might be worth my time. =) In all seriousness, i really want to make this work, and if that means paying you to install it properly, i'll consider it. Can you send me a link with more information regarding that service?

Hello,

if you are looking over FTP, you probably do not see hidden files. Files starting with . are considered hidden.
I am quite sure the file will be there, otherwise I cannot image other reason of 500 internal error after installing JoomSEF.

As regards the installation service: [faq]www.artio.net/en/e-shop/joomsef-installa...stallation-on-apache[/faq].
We offer this because the installation procedure depends often on a specific server configuration and many users of Joomla do not have sufficient knowledge to set it up correctly if the standard installation procedure does not go smoothly (and this is really dependant on server configuration).
