TOPIC: How to make SEF links follow menu structure

How to make SEF links follow menu structure 15 years ago #6497

Hello,
I've just installed JoomSEF on my site (order n.4276).
I have a small issue with a custom component.

The component is published in a fourth-level Itemid:

Home
-> sublink1
-> sublink2
-> link to component

The generated URL is not www.sitename.com/sublink1/sublink2/component-name,

as I would expect (and so was with Joomla SEO links), but
www.sitename.com/component-name

Perhaps I'm missing some simple parameter in the setting panel, but I've tried all the options and the result is always the same.

Thanks in advance for help.
Roberto

Hello,

if this is custom component, then the SEO URL appearance is driven by its own extension. (or by default engine if own extension is not present)

For content, the structure used is section/category/article, but it is not dependent on menu structure.

Thus, if you want the URL to consist of more parts for this custom component, you will either need to create own extension for JoomSEF defining this or change the URL manually after it is generated using URL editior/viewer. (that might be ok, if there is just several such links you want to adjust)
