Sitemap doesn't work when submited to google 12 years, 7 months ago #24426

Hi,
My sitemap.xml file is successfully created, but when I submit it to google does not accept.
I have a 403 error, the file permissions to 777 and is placed at the site root.
Any idea?

Hi,
Does the sitemap work when you enter yourdomain/sitemap.xml to a web browser? What is the message Google returns when you submit a sitemap to it?

No, the sitemap won't work when I enter yourdomain/sitemap.xml.
I've got a 403 error, it's the same error that google return when i submit the sitemap.

This means that either file permissions are set incorrectly or there is some problem in your .htaccess file or there is some other configuration on your server that prevents file from being accessed.
I can only help you with the .htaccess, so please post your .htaccess file content so I can check it.

<Files sitemap.xml>
order deny,allow
allow from all
</Files>

at my .htaccess file and it works.
