the search is searching through client information so it is not open to the public, would you like me to email you the user & pass?

No, I just meant the link like:
index.php?option=com_zoo&controller=zoofilter&task=dosearch&search_id=356&app_id=1&Itemid=119

You said that the search worked with JoomSEF when you opened it for the first time, so what was the working URL? So I can check if there's any difference between it and the non-working one.

It seems that there's a difference in Itemid - the non-working URL uses Itemid=119 and the original one uses Itemid=154.
In your ZOOfilter module parameters try setting the "Result Page ItemId" option to 154.

Thank you that was the problem but in reverse. In the Zoo filter module parameters I already had "Result Page ItemId" option to 154, I removed that and now it is working just fine.
