Ok, but not in my case. In both cases 'always' and 'if not empty' there is no text in title, metadesc and keywords fields. I tried to purge the URLs, the cache, etc.

I can provide admin access, so you can check.

Hi,

I've just tested it and it works correctly on your website. When I deleted the "adobe-photoshop-express-pentru-android-1799" SEF URL and visited the "/stiri-aplicatii" link, so the URL got recreated, it has the correct Title now and no meta tags, because JoomSEF is set to generate meta tags only if original are empty, which they aren't.

I think there is a misunderstanding.

1. Every new article has metadesc and keywords, but JoomSEF is not taking them, so they don't appear in "Manage Meta Tags" menu. "If not empty" should work in this case.

2. Second problem is that JoomSEF is not taking metadesc and keywords from the articles already in db, which is wrong, considering it deletes the metadesc and meta tags when I delete an URL. It should put them back when new URL is created (using the settings 'if not empty"), so I can see them in "Manage Meta Tags" menu.

Hi,

The meta tags you set for articles are separate from meta tags you set in JoomSEF. If you set meta tags for new article, you don't see them in Manage Meta Tags in JoomSEF. Only if you let JoomSEF generate its own meta tags, or you set your custom meta tags in JoomSEF for SEF URL, then those are displayed in Manage Meta Tags.

The meta tags you set in JoomSEF overrides the meta tags you set for articles. So if you set your own meta tags directly for articles, they are correctly displayed on your website even when JoomSEF's meta tags are empty (Joomla handles this). But if you set your own meta tags (or let JoomSEF auto-generate some), those are then stored with SEF URLs and when you visit that URL, meta tags stored in JoomSEF overrides the ones coming from Joomla (from the article).
