I would like to know what file types are supported with JoomDOC's file fulltext search capability. Are new Microsoft Office file types such as .docx, .pptx, .xlsx supported and can they be indexed and searched? Is there a list of supported file types somewhere on the site I can look at?

PDF (it requires pdf2text)
DOC, PPT, XLS (it requires catdoc)
DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV

Does the indexing capability require purchasing pdf2text, or does it include a version?

pdf2text (pdftotext) should be free:

Debian, Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install xpdf
Centos, RedHat:
sudo yum install xpdf

catdoc (catdoc, catppt, xls2csv):

Debian, Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install catdoc

On Windows you have to set manually CLASSPATHS to bin folders of those libraries. Catdoc has also catppt and xsl2csv. Do not forget to add them to CLASSPATHS too.
