JoomSEF is an open-source application licensed under a partially-free licence that allows you to copy and distribute the publicly available version. You are also allowed to modify it for your own needs, but you are not allowed to distribute such modified version further.
Licence Conditions Summary
There exist two versions of ARTIO JoomSEF - free, that contains back links to authors and paid that is link-free. The licencing consitions differ slighly:
Free JoomSEF (with backlinks) and free plugins
- you are ALLOWED to copy and distribute it freely
- you are ALLOWED to use it on as many servers and sites as you need
- you are ALLOWED to do modifications to code for your own needs
- you are NOT ALLOWED to distribute customized versions without ARTIO approval
Paid JoomSEF (link-free) and paid plugins
- you are NOT ALLOWED to copy or distribute it
- your are ALLOWED to use it on ONE site only - you need extra licence per each site
- you are ALLOWED to do modifications to code for your own needs
- you are NOT ALLOWED to distribute any customized versions
- the usage of the component is TIME UNLIMITED
- you are ENTITLED for 1 year of free updates
The same conditions apply to plugin modules (extensions) for JoomSEF that are also distributed as free or paid.
Multilicenses (volume discounts)
If you need more licenses of paid JoomSEF version, we offer volume discounts. If you are a running own server or are a webdesign company needing 20 or more JoomSEF licenses, you may also be interested in Server License.

The same rules apply also for add-on plugins. Single and multilicenses are binded to site URL.
Server License
While single (multi) license is binded to site and its URL, server license is binded to server IP(s).
You can use JoomSEF for arbitrary number of sites, as long as they are hosted on a single server (physical or virtual). This is an option maily for webhosting companies. The other conditions are same as for paid licenses.
