This looks very promising. I made the change as you suggested just a minute ago, on line 40 of that file. I refreshed the cache and now when I click an author name, it goes directly to an index of their blog entries with the following URL convention:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/sea...blogger/fran-stanley

domain.com/section/search-function/author-name

At first glance this appears to have solved our issues, but I will keep poking around the MyBlog areas of the site to see if anything comes up in the next couple of days.

Thank you very much for your work on this issue, I very much appreciate the custom help. I will report back around Friday/Saturday.

Hello Jan and Denis-

Do you have an update for us? Our issue still persists.

Thank you for your help!

I wanted to update with an insight that I had during some more troubleshooting as I was waiting for a response from Denis.

Right now, the author names are being linked like this, all of them making the same SEF URL:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/search-blog-blogger/

And in the past, I was trying to follow the author root by clicking on an author's article like this:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/chris-pegg/NAME-OF-ARTICLE

From this URL with Author name present, I tried to shorten it to :

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/chris-pegg

Because it followed that the URL syntax above would result in a list of entries by that author. However, it gave the error Invalid Task.

Today when I was trying new things, I happened upon this syntax, which actually presents a list of articles by an individual author:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/sea...g-blogger/chris-pegg

So, it looks like what would fix the problem is that if the current author name SEF links would just get their /first-last suffix appended to what is currently being created by SEF (www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/search-blog-blogger/) then this problem will be solved. I can turn off SEF and see that the original Joomla system URLs are unique according to author name, so hopefully this will be the key to engineering the fix.

Thank you for your help, please ask me for more information if you need it! It's been nearly 3 weeks now and we could really use some help to get this resolved.

Has this information you requested helped in your troubleshooting, Denis? Please let me know if you have an update for us, as we are getting very close to launch date now.

Hi Denis-

Yes, this is the problem I was hoping to get addressed. Thanks for your response. Here is the information you requested:

blogs/blogger/chris-pegg

This URL does not exist in our system, for me or for any of the other authors. The only URLs that are generated with the path blogs/blogger/ prefix are as follows (first part is SEF URL, second part is actual URL):

blogs/blogger/tags/taking-action
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=Martha Coventry&category=Taking Action&Itemid=166

blogs/blogger/tags/taking-action
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=chris:pegg&category=Taking Action&Itemid=176

blogs/bloggers/bloggers
index.php?option=com_myblog&task=bloggers&Itemid=
166

blogs/search-blog-blogger

This SEF URL is duplicated a few times, once each for the users who have submitted at least one blog entry:

index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=Martha Coventry&Itemid=166
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=a guest&Itemid=166
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=Fran Stanley&Itemid=166
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=Chris Pegg&Itemid=166
index.php?option=com_myblog&blogger=Ron Anderson&Itemid=166

I just installed the latest extension update for MyBlog like you said. So now we are on version 2.1.0 for that extension (release date 3/1/2010) and the problem still persists.

Is there any additional information I can provide that would help you to fix this problem? We will be going into production soon and we will need to have this issue fixed before we can do so. I'm happy to help collect more information if what I have provided to you is not enough to adequately troubleshoot the problem.

Thank you for your continued work on this issue.

Hi-

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate knowing about the update. Unfortunately my issue still remains as in the original post. I am still seeing the Invalid Task when truncating article URLs to go just to the author name as last part of URL syntax. Also, still seeing the follwing link from the Author Full Name under article titles in the master index:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/search-blog-blogger

I tried flushing the cache and deleting all URLs from ARTIO (like a reset of all of our URLs) and that did not do the trick either.

Thanks for your continued efforts on my issue!

Hi-

We're using your paid extension for MyBlog, and have run into a snag with the way that URLs are generated for individual bloggers. Take a look at our site to see it in action yourself:

1. Go to www.compassionatesocieties.org
2. Click on Blogs (this shows all blogs from all users)
3. Now hover over the Full Name of the blog author on any of the individual posts.
Chris Pegg
Ron Anderson
Fran Stanley

all lead to the same URL:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/blogger

Now, if we click on any of the individual entry titles, we're taken to that blog post and the URL will look something like this:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/chr...gg/welcome-to-myblog

But if I truncate that URL to just the author's name, like:

www.compassionatesocieties.org/blogs/chris-pegg/

We are presented with a page that simply says "Invalid Task."

I have disabled ARTIO entirely to troubleshoot, and I can verify that clicking the user's Full Name as it appears directly under the title of the entry actually does show an index of ONLY that author's posts.

Please let me know if you need any more information for your troubleshooting, and I appreciate your help with this matter!
