Hi,

Having looked at the forum for some support there seems to be very little to help with this issue, but hopefully the developers can see this and implement changes for future versions of Jreviews.

Background: Currently I am testing my new site out, its moved from the local test server stage, to an online test phase. I use Artio Jomsef 3.8.1 for SEF translation (full paid version), along with the Jreviews extension that I bought. I also have the latest Jreviews installed which is version 2.3.09.200.

The problem I have is with a 404 page not found error that occurs with pagination when switching pages in either my Game Review, Software Review or Hardware Review sections, however the weird thing is the problem only occurs when trying to go back to page 1. If for example I switch from page 2 to page 3 in the Hardware section and then back again then it works fine, if I then try go back to page 1 it errors...

From my investigation Jreviews is using this link for the Hardware section when going back to page 1 www.crowdedbrain.co.uk/newsite/index.php...action:1/sectionid:6

I think the part at the end of the above i.e. /action:1/sectionid:6 is causing the problem as if I remove this by hand the above link works and it goes back to page 1.

However I also get problems when selecting any of the category titles above the pagination, i.e if you click on Gadgets for example it also 404's.

in the same section above there are also little RSS feed icons, one of these is Hardware review feeds, this also errors, as does the rss feed from within posts..

Click on the small rss icon from this link and you can see the error. www.crowdedbrain.co.uk/newsite/smartphon...-nexus-s-review.html

Its a strange problem and it is certainly a SEF issue. In terms of trying to solve it I have tried all manner of tweaks from the Jreviews extension settings box to the default Artio JomSef configuration files, but none of these attempts have worked.

I have also tried using the Jreviews extension with Jomsef basic rewrite, or the default Joomla router but this does not work properly either.

The only thing that does work is if I turn off SEF for the extension off, but of course I then loose all the SEF friendly URL's.

I'm not really sure there is anything you can do to help, but if there is I will be grateful, however the main problem is that Jreviews has evolved since you created the 2.0.4 extension back in 2010 and the code of Jreviews, plus the template structure has changed significantly, so the Jreviews extension in its current form does not work.

The latest version of Jreviews can be tested for two weeks via this link, I'm not sure if this will help you fix the issues, but it may be of some use to getting the extension back up to speed.

Hi All,

Like many others on the forum I have had problems with my site displaying RSS feeds properly from the home page - note I'm using Joomla 1.522 (stable) - and have literally spent hours if not days trying to resolve the issue on my new site (still in beta) www.crowdedbrain.co.uk/newsite.

However I think I have a solution which may help others with a similar problem with the RSS feeds, either "A" not re-directing properly or "B" showing up blank.

Note: Makes sure you backup your site before attempting any fixes.

Background: My RSS feeds where not displaying, but instead the link was simply taking me back to the frontpage content items, as maybe a lot of other users sites were, but to resolve this you need to head into Artio Jomsef configuration setting, then go to the Advanced tab. Next look for "Fix document format" option at the bottom of the page (as suggested by Artio in several forum posts) and set this to "Yes" and choose save.

Now purge your SEF cache and SEF URLS via your Artio Jomsef control panel.

If you then click on the RSS feed link in Firefox it should display the feeds properly, but if it is blank the trick next is to launch your site in IE (I was using 8) and click on the URL feed here.

This should hopefully display an error, which you can read (I think) by clicking on the more information link or details link.

Mine was displaying this error....

Whitespace is not allowed at this location.
Line: 5 Character: 41

<title>Home - Crowdedbrain - Reviews & Tech News</title>

The & was the problem here, so I next went to my Joomla sites Global configuration setting option and changed the name from & to "and" (without the quotes of course) so it read Home - Crowdedbrain - Reviews and Tech News.

Then I clicked on save and went back to the Artio Jomsef control panel and cleared out the cache and purged the SEF urls. After this I re-launched Firefox, clicked on the RSS link and hey presto it is now displaying the RSS feeds properly via the homepage link (though I still need to make site specific adjustments to the images from appearing large and fix the rss feeds for some other components, but its still a great leap forward).

Conclusion

The problem it seems is that the SEF does not like special characters being used in the name you give your site in the Global configuration setting. So if your site has weird characters in the name, try playing about with the title and remove any characters like & and see if it works.
