TOPIC: Translate file does not work?

Translate file does not work? 14 years, 9 months ago #9792

Hi

I'm tring to make a full translate to Spanish es-ES languaje, but when I edit the file es-ES.com_joomdoc.ini and change some texts, the front-end does not change and it's still in english languaje. I've translated the admin and site side (a lot of work...) but it seems that JoomDOC is not using that files.

Is there any "special" way to translate this component? I've seen a post with a spanish translation but it's not complete and it uses other files (es-ES.backend.php, es-ES.common.php...), I think that the translate must be possible just with the ini files, isn't it?

Regards

Best way for translating J! 1.5 files and for they're 3rd party addons such as JoomDOC, is via Notepad + (notepad-plus.sourceforge.net) for offline translations - Best pick for me and via Translation Manager (extensions.joomla.org/extensions/languag...lingual-content/1776) for online translation via Joomla Administration interface.

If u pick the offline method (Notepad Plus), u should click menu Format/Format as UTF-8 without BOM, then start type translated texts. Eg,

DEFINITION1=Definition 1 (Definition 1 should be translated into Spanish, not the first one)

All files required translations are:

admin/xx-XX.com_joomdoc.ini
admin/xx-XX.com_joomdoc_common.ini
site/xx-XX.com_joomdoc.ini
xx-XX.mod and xx-XX.plg are optional

Due the buger base (DOCMan) used for creation of this otherwise cool component (JoomDOC), you should translate all files in Admin and Site to see any changes reflecting to front or back end.
