Is it possible to upgrade from free to paid without reconfiguring everything from the beginning? The upgrade page has an upgrade path going from standard to pro but nothing from free to any of the paid versions. Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible. You must write down download id and component will upgraded without configuration lost.
