TOPIC: Duplicate URL's for blog layout categories

Duplicate URL's for blog layout categories 9 years, 8 months ago #45401

Is there a valid reason why for blog layout categories duplicate urls are generated in JoomSEF?

1a SEF url: reisshop/rondreis
1a Real url: index.php?option=com_content&id=129&layout=blog&view=category&Itemid=1192

1b SEF url: reisshop/rondreis
1b Real url: index.php?option=com_content&id=129&view=category&Itemid=1192

and since I am using ATOM & RSS, it happens for those urls as well

2a SEF url: reisshop/rondreis/atom
2a Real url: index.php?option=com_content&format=feed&id=129&layout=blog&type=atom&view=category&Itemid=1192

2b SEF url: reisshop/rondreis/atom
2b Real url: index.php?option=com_content&format=feed&id=129&type=atom&view=category&Itemid=1192

The 2nd url which is generated does not contain the layout=blog parameter. Using both different real urls shows the same result: the page in blog layout.

This is causing a huge extra amount of unneccesary url in the sitemap, extra dbase space etc. Can this be solved with config? Am I doing something wrong here?

I am using Joomla 3.3.3 with JoomSEF 4.5.2. Have this issue over half a year already (also with earlier versions)

Hi,

The reason is that Joomla uses two different URLs for the same page on different places.
Currently there's no way to solve this perfectly using JoomSEF's Configuration. You could set "layout" as Custom non-SEF variable in Content extension parameters, which would solve the creation of duplicate URLs in database and sitemap. The downside is that anywhere where Joomla uses the URL with layout=blog your URL would look like:
domain.com/reisshop/rondreis?layout=blog

Thank you for your report, we'll add an option to handle this situation in next version of JoomSEF.
