Hi I was using sh404SEF before and had "index.php" in my URLs and would like to have the links exactly as they were before.
When i first installed JoomSEF the component created the .htaccess file and I got a 500 error. my host deleted the .htaccess and it works if i change htaccess.txt to .htaccess now but i cannot get any URLs that had "index.php" to show the custom 404 correctly even. this happens also if i copy and paste the suggested .htaccess during install

my host said "the Rewrite rules you where using is not correct , you can use any other rule ."

how can i correct this?
