TOPIC: Fatal Error

Fatal Error 12 years, 9 months ago #23219

Hi

just recently purchase VM Invoice and installed initially on test site.

i've just move the test site to it final destination URL www.alsodirectory.com.au

I've also paid for getting the domain name changed from alsodirectory.org (as client changed mind)

Now in the Backend Component VM Invoice - when i go to the Invoice Tab and click on the PDF icon to view a PDF of an existing order - i get the following fatal error

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/ad/public_html/administrator/components/com_vminvoice/tcpdf/tcpdf.php on line 9181

help

Hello,

the error just means that the invoice generation takes too long on your server - it exceeds 30s and because how server settings it is terminated then.

I am afraid there are just 2 solutions:
1. move this to a faster server
2. prolong the script run limit to a time it needs to generate the invoice

The generation of the PDF takes so time, but on our server, it does not exceed 5s. So your server seems to be extremely slow in this. Maybe it is a shared hosting that does not have enough resources assigned?

Hi Jan

thanks - i got the web host to increase the timeout value on the script. They limit the amount of processing power to max of 25% of CPU to prevent anyone website hogging resources.

however i am experiencing another side affect.

on this host it take up to 45 seconds to generate the PDF
on my other host (which is my test/dev area) - it takes 2 to 5 seconds.

could this be PHP version related ... host is running 5.3 dev is run 5.2.x
